The project aims to improve young athletes’ mental well-being by equipping coaches with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to recognise mental-health challenges, respond safely and create supportive, inclusive sport environments.

The project primarily targets grassroots sport coaches who work directly with young athletes, along with sports clubs and youth organisations that support them. Young athletes aged 12–18 benefit indirectly through improved coaching practices, while parents, local communities and sport stakeholders gain from healthier, more inclusive and supportive sport environments.

  •
Strengthen coaches’ ability to recognise early signs of mental-health challenges in young athletes.
  • Build coaches’ skills in supportive communication, empathy and safe response techniques.
  • Promote inclusive, positive and mentally healthy environments in grassroots sports.
  • Provide accessible digital learning tools to support continuous coach education.
  • Increase awareness of youth mental well-being among sport organisations and local communities.
